Going down the line, from 1980-1989, what song do you think of first when you think of each individual year of the 80s?

oh god, this is devastating.
1980 - xanadu / olivia newton-john 1981 - our lips are sealed (really the entire beauty and the beat album) / the go-go's 1982 - heat of the moment (again, really their whole first album)/ asia 1983 - seperate ways/journey 1984 - purple rain (song and album)/ prince 1985 - never surrender/corey hart 1986 - live to tell/madonna 1987 - alone/heart 1988 - troy/sinead o'connor 1989 - toy soldiers / martika |

Great question! How did I ever miss this post when it first got posted??
It's a little hard for me to just think of ONE song for each year because they were so many good ones. Anyway, I'll give this a go: 1980 - Another One Bites The Dust (Queen) 1981 - Bette Davis Eyes (Kim Carnes) and Celebration (Kool & The Gang) ...yeah, it's a tie 1982 - Nova Heart (Spoons); Honorable mention: The Message - Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five 1983 - Is There Something I Should Know? (Duran Duran); Honorable mention: Sweet Dreams (are made of this) - Eurythmics 1984 - The Reflex (Duran Duran) 1985 - Take On Me (A-ha); Honorable mention: You Spin Me Round (like a record) - Dead or Alive 1986 - Sledgehammer (Peter Gabriel) 1987 - With Or Without You (U2) 1988 - It Takes Two (Rob Base & DJ E-Z Rock) 1989 - Keep On Movin' (Soul II Soul) **Edit to add (ETA):** On second thought, the two songs for 1983 should be a tie as well. While New Order's "Bizarre Love Triangle" was released in late '86, it didn't catch on for me until 1987 (the extended version, in particular). So, it deserves an honorable mention for 1987.
